Unpaid Iternship Program: 4 High School and College students participated in Internship in various departments during the reporting period.

Paid Internship Program: WDST has been offering internships to qualified candidates since 1998 through the New York State Broadcasters Association Nelson J. Rockefeller Internship Program. The program’s intention is to provide participating students (interns) the opportunity to witness and experience “first hand” the operational procedures of a radio or television station.

The Internships are for 180 hours and are reimbursed in the form of wages at $6.40/per hour. WDST’s Internship Program offers college students seeking a career in broadcasting a unique opportunity for on-the-job training in their particular area of interest. Our internship programs have proven beneficial in providing workplace opportunities to enrich their school studies and by helping students gain valuable work experience. WDST’s internship program provides opportunities for a successful partnership between education and business by bridging the working world and the classroom.

Our programs are designed to provide a broad introductory overview of the broadcasting industry and help students learn through workplace experience, and more importantly, students have an opportunity to exchange their visions, bringing their skills and cutting-edge ideas to the WDST environment.

WDST interns may be accepted into, and are encouraged to participate in, a variety of areas and departments within WDST, including:

Promotions

Sales/Marketing

Broadcasting

Production

Accounting

Webcasting
